The Football Manager
Jano [Spartak Moscow]

Georgia is not known for producing great football players, especially in the recent years, but that might all change with Jano, who can be considered a wonderkid on Football Manager 2012. He currently plays for Russian team, Spartak Moscow. Since 2009, he has scored 5 goals in 42 first team appearances. His natural position is as an attacking midfielder. Although there are no attributes that particularly stands out, he could be considered well-rounded. For example, his flair is 16, first touch is 14, dribbling is 14, and passing is 13. By the time he is 26, his first touch improves to 16, technique to 16, passing to 17, flair to 18, and anticipation to 16. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to players like Luka Modric then Jano might be your man.

Iker Muniain [Athletic Bilbao]

I remember having this kid in my squad back in Football Manager 2011. Since then, it seems his attributes has toned down a little, but don’t let that stop you from acquiring him. Iker Muniain is a Spanish Wonderkid playing for Athletic Bilbao. At the beginning of Football Manager 2012, he has some great technical attributes. For example, his dribbling is 16 and technique is 17. According to one scout, his physical attributes will increase immensely by the time he is 25 or 26. That said, you will need to give him plenty of game time to improve.

Yann M’Vila [Rennes]

A world class midfielder is expected to have a bit of everything. He should know how to tackle, know how to shoot, and know how to make the killer passes. Yann M’Vila is one such player who is expected to reach those heights. What makes him so impressive is that he is only 21. He has already been courted by some of the biggest European clubs to date, but he has decided that his future, as of now, lies with Rennes. If you want to snag him away from Rennes then you would probably have to end up paying up to 25 million pounds. It is a money well worth investing in. In the beginning of the game, there are a lot of stats that stands out. For example, his passing is 16, work rate is 18, teamwork is 18, and anticipation is 17. This makes him a great option for those who need a holding midfielder. According to one scout, by the year 2019, his passing increases to 18, his tackling increases to 15, and his agility also increases to 17. What do you think of M’Vila?

Carlos Kameni [Espanyol]

Carlos Kameni is an established Goalkeeper playing for Espanyol. Earlier in the Football Manager series, he was rated as one of the best young keepers in the game. At the age of 27, he still has plenty of years ahead. Some can argue that he is yet to reach his peak (goalkeepers in general tend to reach their peak from the age of 30). For less than 10 million pounds, you can easily acquire a top-notch goalkeeper, especially if you don’t have the glamour of top clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool. So how do his stats look on FM2012? A lot of his technical skills are pretty solid. For example, he is great when he comes to one-on-ones (17), and reflexes (19). He also has a great anticipation (16) and determination (16). Kameni could be a great GK/Sweeper, a role that is played by top keepers such as Jose Reina. His skills continue to increase in the game. For example, his reflexes will eventually reach 20 and his agility also increase to 17. What do you think? Do you rate him on Football Manager?

Ahmed Soukouna [Toulouse FC]

If I was to describe Ahmed Soukouna in three words, it would be: pacey, inconsistent, and ambitious. Soukouna is not a striker recommended for the top teams. Rather, he is more suited for those in the lower end of the premier division or perhaps the second league. The only reason why I rate him in the game is because he is a free agent in the beginning of the season. If you utilize him well in your formation then he can definitely score his fair share of goals. On Football Manager 2012, he has average attacking stats. For example, his finishing is 11, heading is 12, technique is 11, and penalty is 11. Not the best attributes really. That said, he does have a pace of 16. Think of him as a French Theo Walcott but a little worse. By 2014, his physical attributes increase significantly but his technical attributes stay more or less the same.

Gabriel Torje [Udinese]

Gabriel Torje is a Romanian Footballer plying his trades at Italian Club, Udinese. Although he has just signed for Udinese this year in 2011, he has already made a great contribution to the club. This has dispelled any concerns that Udinese may have when it is time for their club superstar, Alexis Sanchez to leave the club. In the beginning of the Football Manager, he has decent stats for his age. He does not have any particular attribute that stands out but it is his overall game that is most impressive. For example, a lot of his mental attributes stand at 15, while most of his technical attributes are 12 or above. According to one FM scout, by the year 2019, he makes some considerable improvements in both the technical and mental department. For example, his crossing stat improves to 16, work rate goes up to 16, and flair goes up to 17. Torje may not be a world beater like Ronaldo on Football Manager but he can definitely be a great squad player for any top team in the world.

Erick Torres [Guadalajara]

Erick Torres is a Mexican Youth International plying his trades at Mexican team, Guadalajara. He is best known by fans as ‘el cubo’, which means cube in English. At the tender age of 18, he has already played up to 30 games since 2010, scoring 11 goals in the process. His style is known to be similar to the one and only Javier Hernandez (AKA El Chicarito). He has quick feet and a good positional sense. This is evident from his Football Manager 2012 attributes. His best physical attribute is his pace [16] and agility [14]. He also has decent mental attributes, especially for a player his age. According to one FM Scout, by 2019, his technical skills improve immensely. For example, his dribbling goes up to 16, first touch goes up to 16, and passing goes up to 16. Unfortunately, his finishing attribute remains stable at 15. With those stats, he can also play in the hole, right behind the striker. Have you had Erick Torres in your squad? What do you think?

Lorenzo Crisetig [Inter Milan]

In this edition, we have a look at Lorenzo Crisetig, an Italian youth international plying his trades at Inter Milan. His natural position is central midfield, although he is also known to play in a more defensive position. There are great hopes for this young player to make the grade. In the beginning of Football Manager, he has adequate attributes as a midfielder. It would be best to send him on loan to a lower league club, some place where he can play on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, he is not good enough yet to play on the first team squad. For example, he has a tackling attribute of 12, passing attribute of 12, and first touch attribute of 13. As he is only 18, there is plenty of time for him to improve his overall game. One manager reported that by 2019, he has made a great stride in skills. For example, his influence, work rate, passing, jumping, and strength all jump to a whopping 17. Have you had Lorenzo Cristeig before? Please share with us your opinions on this young Italian.

Siphiwe Tshabalala [Kaizer Chefs]

One of the star performers for South Africa in the 2010 World Cup. Surprisingly, he did not make a move abroad to Europe after the World Cup but instead stayed in South Africa to help local team Kaizer Chiefs stay in contention with the league title. Tshabalala is probably best suited for teams in the middle or in the lower end of the premier league standings. His strength can be attributed to his creativity [17], free kick taking [16], and dribbling [17]. Other than that, he is more or less your average winger.

At the age of 26, Tshabalala is more or less in his prime so he won’t make too many improvements during the later stage of Football Manager 2012. That said, he is still a useful squad player to have. His best position is on the left wing. Despite not having awesome crossing skills, he will definitely be causing some trouble on the left with his great technical skills. He is available for less than one million pounds so if you are on a budget then he may be the winger for you. What do you think?
